When Calls The Heart star dies ‘suddenly at home’ at the age of 53

Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Pelletier, Beloved Crew Member of When Calls The Heart, Dies Suddenly at 53

The When Calls The Heart family is mourning the unexpected loss of Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, who passed away suddenly at the age of 53 last month.

Nate, who made brief on-screen appearances as a taxi driver in several episodes, was far more than a background actor — he was a cherished member of the show’s transportation department. Known for his dedication and craftsmanship, Nate was responsible for maintaining and driving the show’s signature vintage vehicles that helped bring the early 1900s setting to life.

He died at his home in Langley, British Columbia, on April 11, according to his obituary.

Co-star Martin Cummins, who plays Henry Gowen on the hit Hallmark series alongside Lori Loughlin and Jack Wagner, offered a heartfelt tribute to his friend and colleague.

“I just came back from a ride on the bike Gord and Nate put together for the girls,” Cummins shared. “And I’m taking shade in Mexico under the awning Nate helped me figure out in the woods near the old cabin.”

His words reflect the deep connections Nate built behind the scenes — the kind of quiet impact that makes a production feel like family.
