The Ukrainian president spoke out after Donald Trump accused him of ‘gambling with World War Three’ at their White House Meeting
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a statement admitting his meeting with Donald Trump ‘did not go the way it was supposed to’.

On March 4, Zelenskyy took to Twitter to address his recent early departure from the White House following his February 28 meeting with President Trump.
In his statement, he reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to peace, emphasizing that no one desires an “endless war.” He said, “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to secure a peace that lasts.”
Zelenskyy outlined potential steps for peace, stating, “We are ready to act quickly to end the war. The first stages could involve the release of prisoners and a ceasefire in the skies—banning missiles, long-range drones, and bombs targeting energy and civilian infrastructure. A truce at sea would follow, if Russia reciprocates. After that, we want to move swiftly to the next stages and work closely with the US to finalize a strong deal.”
He continued, “We deeply value America’s support in helping Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. We will never forget the moment things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for that.”
Zelenskyy also acknowledged the tension during his recent meeting at the White House, saying, “Our meeting in Washington didn’t go as planned, and it’s regrettable. It’s time to make things right. We hope for future cooperation and communication to be constructive.”
Addressing the agreement on minerals and security, Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s readiness, stating, “Ukraine is prepared to sign the agreement at any time and in any convenient format. We see it as a step toward greater security and stronger guarantees, and I genuinely hope it will work effectively.”
