White House responds after large bruise spotted on Trump’s hand sparks health speculation

People have been less than convinced by the explanation

Donald Trump sparked concerns about his well-being after people spotted a nasty-looking bruise on his right hand.

During a meeting earlier this week with French President Emmanuel Macron, 78-year-old Donald Trump caught the attention of eagle-eyed viewers for a surprising reason. On Monday, February 24, many noticed bruising on Trump’s right hand, sparking a wave of concern and speculation across social media. As questions about the cause of the bruises flooded in, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt quickly stepped in to provide an explanation, addressing growing worries that the marks might be linked to a potential health issue.

However, Leavitt’s explanation didn’t sit well with many online, with some even accusing her of being less than truthful. She had claimed: “President Trump is a man of the people and meets more Americans, shaking hands on a daily basis than any other president in history. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day.”

In a follow-up, she doubled down, stating: “President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.”

Despite her defense, speculation continued to swirl. One Twitter user remarked, “Why even lie? It’s obviously an IV bruise from blood testing or something. Is it really surprising that Trump, being older, has regular physician visits?” Another wrote, “The White House says the mysterious makeup-covered bruise on Trump’s hand is from shaking hands all day every day. Yeah, no. Turns out we’re not that naïve.”

A third user weighed in with: “Anyone who gets routine bloodwork can have a bruise on their hand—says a nurse who’s drawn a lot of blood.”

While some remained skeptical, others insisted that the bruise itself wasn’t something the American public should be overly concerned about, particularly given Trump’s age. One commenter shared, “My husband had to shake hundreds of hands a day, and his hands would bruise too. It’s a real thing.”

Another added, “That’s how some older people bruise. I see grandma go through this when she hurts herself. It also takes forever to heal.”

A third chimed in with a more direct take: “He probably hit his hand, you morons! All of you worrying about a bruise are as dumb as I thought. So everyone asking doesn’t get bruised?”

Despite the mixed reactions, the ongoing speculation about Trump’s health persists. Back in December, Trump pledged to release his full medical report, yet the questions surrounding his well-being have only grown louder, with many now calling for the immediate release of the document.
