Shocking number of migrant arrests during Donald Trump’s first month in office revealed

Donald Trump promised he would be tough on immigration

Donald Trump’s immigration officers have been under pressure to increase their arrest numbers to ensure the President keeps his promise he made to the public.

Trump Administration Cracks Down on Immigration with Swift Action

Before reclaiming the Oval Office for a second term, Donald Trump made one thing clear—he would take a hardline stance on immigration. Now, just weeks into his presidency, his administration is wasting no time delivering on that promise, with immigration officers carrying out an unprecedented number of arrests.

Kush Desai, White House spokesman, praised the administration’s rapid and aggressive enforcement measures, taking a direct shot at the previous leadership:

“After four years of the Biden administration’s outright incompetence and negligence, the Trump administration has re-established a no-nonsense enforcement of and respect for the immigration laws of the United States.”

With immigration crackdowns intensifying, Trump’s administration is making it clear—the era of leniency is over.

Trump’s Immigration Crackdown Intensifies as Arrests Skyrocket

Since January 20, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and law enforcement agencies have launched nationwide raids, detaining an unprecedented number of undocumented immigrants. With arrests soaring past expectations, the Trump administration is on track to more than double the 113,000 arrests made under Biden in Fiscal Year 2024.

According to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, in just one month, authorities have arrested over 20,000 individuals with criminal backgrounds—including 22 known or suspected terrorists and 640 suspected gang members.

Initially, ICE released daily breakdowns of arrests, distinguishing between those with criminal records and others. However, the agency has since stopped disclosing these details. The highest daily total made public revealed that nearly half of those detained had prior criminal convictions.

Kush Desai, White House spokesman, reinforced the administration’s commitment to aggressive enforcement:

“Hundreds of violent, predatory, and gang-affiliated criminal illegal aliens have already been rounded up and deported by ICE since President Trump took office. The Trump administration is fully aligned on securing our borders and ensuring that mass deportations are conducted quickly and effectively to put Americans and America First.”

Trump Demands Even Faster Deportations

Despite the record-breaking pace, Trump is reportedly frustrated with what he sees as slow progress in deportations. According to NBC News, sources say the president is “angry” over the speed of removals.

As a result, ICE Acting Director Caleb Vitello has been transferred to a different role, according to a DHS spokesperson. A new, unnamed replacement is set to take charge—with orders to push deportations even harder.
