American reporter Brian Glenn asked President Zelenskyy if he owns a suit
The debate about President Zelenskyy’s attire at the White House continues.
On Friday (February 28), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a historic visit to the White House for a high-stakes meeting with former President Donald Trump.
Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion in February 2022, Zelenskyy has consistently donned his signature all-black, military-style attire for official engagements – and Friday’s meeting was no exception. While this has become his trademark, the choice to skip a suit sparked criticism among some Americans, with one reporter even questioning if the Ukrainian leader owned one.

The reporter who asked the pointed question was Brian Glenn, who confronted Zelenskyy by asking, “Why don’t you wear a suit? You’re at the highest level in this country’s office, and you refuse to wear a suit. Do you even own one?”
Zelenskyy, never one to shy away from a response, answered, “I will wear a suit after this war is over. Maybe something like yours. Maybe better, maybe cheaper.” Glenn, who is in a relationship with controversial congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, later took to Twitter to address the exchange.
In his lengthy tweet, Glenn expressed his empathy for the people of Ukraine: “I have extreme empathy for the people of Ukraine and all of those involved in this destructive war. The lives that have been lost are precious, and that’s something a country can never get back. The war needs to end.”

Glenn continued, adding, “That being said, the United States has provided over $120 billion (some say it’s closer to $300 billion) in assistance to Ukraine. That’s hard-earned taxpayer money from Americans—many of whom are against continuing this funding.”
He further criticized Zelenskyy’s attire, stating, “President Zelenskyy has worn his green jumpsuit (or something similar) on every occasion when meeting other world leaders, always dressing respectfully for the occasion.”
Glenn concluded by arguing that Zelenskyy’s choice to wear such casual attire during his visit to the White House showed a lack of respect: “For him to enter the highest office in the most powerful nation in the world dressed as he did reflects his inner disrespect—not only for our country, the President, but also for the American citizens who have made it possible for Ukraine to survive this long, financially speaking.”
Glenn added, “Moments after my exchange with President Zelenskyy, we began to notice a slightly different tone and mood from him when engaging with President Trump and VP JD Vance. His attire seemed to reflect his overall attitude toward the negotiations. So yes, you can judge a book by its cover.”
He then concluded, “With that said, I pray for an end to this war and for peace in the region.”
Taylor Greene also chimed in on the matter, sharing a clip of Glenn asking Zelenskyy the question. She wrote, “I’m so proud of @brianglenntv for pointing out that Zelensky has so much disrespect for America that he can’t even wear a suit in the Oval Office when he comes to beg for money from our President!!”
