Photo taken at Donald Trump’s first cabinet meeting with Elon Musk has everyone pointing out the same thing

There’s even a few alternate suggestions – prepare yourself…

Donald Trump held his first cabinet meeting with head of DOGE Elon Musk in attendance, and social media users are sharing their theories on what the US President is up to in a photograph from the event.

Since taking office as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump has made it clear that he doesn’t believe in doing things halfway.

From signing a barrage of executive orders to holding his first cabinet meeting on February 26, which turned into a candid, one-hour Q&A session, Trump is all-in. During the meeting, he announced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s upcoming visit to the White House, discussed incoming EU tariffs, and reiterated plans for the controversial 25% tariffs he aims to impose on Mexico and Canada. He also addressed the ongoing cuts to the federal workforce being spearheaded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Trump voiced his support for Musk’s efforts, saying, “They have a lot of respect for Elon and what he’s doing, and some may disagree a little bit. But for the most part, I think everyone’s not only happy—they’re thrilled. If they aren’t, I want them to speak up.”

But while Trump lavished praise on Musk, his attention seemed to wander during Musk’s portion of the meeting. Social media erupted with commentary, many pointing out Trump’s apparent lack of interest as Musk spoke. One Reddit user captured the moment perfectly: “Elon holding court, everyone looking at him except Trump, who’s disinterested and glued to his phone. This will sum up the Trump presidency for a long time to come.”

Another Redditor asked, “Looking at his phone or dozing?”

Others chimed in, sharing their own theories. One quipped, “Ah yes, Trump texting while Elon runs his meeting—top-notch leadership. Edit: yes, he may alternately be sleeping. Neither is good.” Some took the humor even further, with one user joking, “Placing an Uber Eats order for some hamberders.”

And the comparisons kept coming. “For some reason, this reminds me of a scene in Breaking Bad when Gus’s men are visited by their lawyer in prison, but once inside, the lawyer puts on his headphones and tunes out while his assistant talks to them—who is none other than Mike, their boss,” another user mused.

But perhaps the most fitting conclusion came from one user who simply said, “Looks more like he fell asleep to me.”

Regardless of what he was doing, it’s clear that the internet had plenty to say about Trump’s attention—or lack thereof—during one of the most important meetings of his presidency.
