A mother of two from Tempe, Arizona, has been convicted of the tragic deaths of her children, in what prosecutors described as a horrific act of revenge against her then-husband.
Yui Inoue, aged 34, was found guilty on February 24 of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of child abuse, and one count of disorderly conduct. This came after the deaths of her seven-year-old and nine-year-old children in March 2021.
Prior to the killings, law enforcement had responded to a domestic dispute at the Inoue household between Yui and her husband at the time, Tsubasa Inoue. Tragically, these events spiraled into a violent act that would forever alter the lives of those involved.

Prosecutors argued that Yui Inoue, in a fit of rage and revenge against her husband, Tsubasa Inoue, took the lives of their two children immediately after police left their home. The dispute between the couple had been over financial issues related to their impending divorce.
Shaylee Beasley, a prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, explained to the jury that Inoue was already frustrated with her husband over money issues and angered that he had called the police to their home. Beasley stated, “She was already angry that Tsubasa wasn’t getting her the money she wanted, and now he sent police to the house.”
In the early hours following the police visit, Inoue drove herself to a local police station covered in bloodstained clothes and carrying a meat cleaver.
During her interview with authorities, Inoue claimed she had gone to bed with her children, only to wake up with blood on her hands. Court documents revealed her statement that she found her two children lifeless near the doorway of a bedroom.
Upon investigation, law enforcement discovered a disturbing scene: a large amount of blood, with the children covered by a blanket and showing signs of severe injuries.

This case is incredibly tragic. Yui Inoue’s actions, which prosecutors argued were fueled by anger from a domestic dispute with her husband, have led to the heartbreaking loss of her two children. Despite the defense’s argument regarding her physical limitations and her decision to go to the police station after the murders, the jury found her guilty of all charges. The prosecution highlighted evidence of intent and planning, such as Inoue’s actions before the killings, which pointed to a deliberate course of events. The case underscores the devastating consequences of domestic violence and revenge, especially when children are involved.
It’s a reminder of the importance of addressing such disputes early and providing support to prevent these kinds of tragedies.
