Elon Musk has shared his thoughts on Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with Donald Trump at the White House after the POTUS accused his fellow leader of ‘gambling with World War 3’.

Tense Trump-Zelenskyy Meeting Sparks Global Debate

The high-stakes meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and former U.S. President Donald Trump on February 28 left the world stunned. What was meant to be a discussion on a potential minerals deal quickly spiraled into a heated exchange, dividing audiences worldwide.

Throughout the tense encounter, both leaders battled for control of the conversation, with Vice President JD Vance stepping in at one point to tell Zelenskyy he should be “thanking” Trump for his efforts to “bring an end” to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

When Zelenskyy attempted to respond, Trump fired back:
“You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War 3, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to this country—this country that’s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should have.”

The discussion ended abruptly, with Zelenskyy walking out before finalizing the minerals deal.

Elon Musk Weighs In

In the aftermath, tech mogul Elon Musk waded into the controversy, suggesting that Zelenskyy’s White House appearance had severely damaged his global reputation.

Musk responded to a post by right-wing influencer Benny Johnson, who shared polling data indicating that Americans’ “trust in Zelensky” had plummeted from 72% to below 48%. Quoting the post, Musk wrote:

“Zelensky damaged himself severely in the eyes of the public. Just a fact.”

He then doubled down, referencing his October 2022 peace proposal for Ukraine and Russia, which called for:

  • New elections in annexed regions under UN supervision, with Russia withdrawing if the people voted to leave.
  • Crimea remaining part of Russia, as it had been since 1783.
  • Water supply to Crimea secured.
  • Ukraine maintaining neutrality.

On March 2, Musk reflected on his original stance, adding:

“Over two years ago, I said Ukraine should seek peace or suffer severe loss of life for no gains. The latter was Zelenskyy’s choice. Now, he wants to do that again. This is cruel and inhumane.”

A Nation Divided

Musk’s comments ignited fierce debate across social media, with some echoing his criticism while others staunchly defended Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty.

Following his exit from the White House, Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine’s gratitude toward the U.S., writing:

“We are truly thankful for America’s help in saving our people. We want only strong relations with America, and I really hope we will have them.”

With global tensions at a boiling point, the fallout from this explosive meeting is far from over.
