Donald Trump reveals brutal new nickname for Canada’s Justin Trudeau amid trade war

The President made another dig at the Canadian Prime Minister

Donald Trump has a brand new brutal nickname for Canada’s Justin Trudeau amid the country’s ongoing trade war.

Trump Slaps ‘Catastrophic’ Tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China in Drug Crackdown

In a bold and controversial move, President Donald J. Trump has signed off on an order imposing severe tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China—nations he accuses of failing to stop the flow of deadly drugs into the United States.

The sweeping tariffs, described as “catastrophic” in economic impact, are aimed at holding these countries “accountable” for what Trump calls a “broken promise” to curb the influx of dangerous substances across US borders.

This latest economic strike marks yet another escalation in Trump’s hardline stance on drug trafficking, with critics warning of potential diplomatic and financial fallout. Meanwhile, supporters hail it as a necessary measure to protect American lives.

Trade War Erupts: Trump Hits Canada with Tariffs, Trudeau Fires Back

President Donald J. Trump has officially imposed a 25% tariff on all goods imported from Canada, Mexico, and China—along with an additional 10% tariff on Canadian energy products. After holding off on the move for 30 days, Trump ultimately went forward with what he calls a necessary measure to punish countries for failing to curb the influx of drugs into the U.S.

However, Trump’s latest remarks have only escalated tensions, as he mockingly suggested Canada’s only way out of the tariffs was to become the 51st U.S. state.

Canada Strikes Back

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wasted no time in announcing retaliatory tariffs, condemning Trump’s decision as an attack on America’s closest ally.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford took matters even further, scrapping a $100 million contract with Elon Musk and threatening severe economic consequences. Among his proposed countermeasures:
A 25% surcharge on electricity or cutting off power to 1.5 million Americans in bordering states.
Hiking or cutting off mineral exports critical to U.S. industries.

Trump, never one to back down, mocked Trudeau yet again—referring to him as “Governor” instead of Prime Minister. Taking to his Truth Social platform, the President wrote:

“Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a retaliatory tariff on the U.S., our reciprocal tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!”

Trudeau Claps Back

Dropping diplomatic formalities, Trudeau fired back in a scathing response:

“Today, the United States launched a trade war against Canada, their closest partner and ally, their closest friend. At the same time, they are talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin, a lying, murderous dictator. Make that make sense.”

As tensions continue to rise, this high-stakes economic battle could have serious global consequences. Will cooler heads prevail, or is this just the beginning of a full-scale trade war?

Trudeau Fires Back: “Donald, This is a Very Dumb Thing to Do”

The trade war between the U.S. and Canada has reached a boiling point, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau directly calling out President Trump by name in a fiery response to the tariffs.

“I want to speak directly to one specific American—Donald.”

Trudeau, breaking from diplomatic tradition, took a personal approach as he addressed the U.S. leader head-on.

“It’s not in my habit to agree with the Wall Street Journal, but Donald, they point out that even though you’re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do.”

The Prime Minister didn’t stop there, accusing the Trump administration of deliberately trying to trigger a collapse of the Canadian economy to make annexation easier.

Canada Stands Firm: “We Will Never Be the 51st State”

As speculation swirls over Trump’s mock suggestion that Canada should become America’s next state to avoid tariffs, Trudeau made it crystal clear:

“That is never going to happen. We will never be the 51st state.”

Determined to fight back, he vowed:
“This is a time to hit back hard and to demonstrate that a fight with Canada will have no winners.”

Trump’s Justification: The Fentanyl Crisis

Trump has defended his harsh economic measures by blaming Canada for an alleged rise in fentanyl production, claiming the illicit drug is flowing across the border and was responsible for the deaths of 9.8 million Americans last year.

However, Trudeau swiftly refuted these claims, calling them baseless:

“Less than one percent of the fentanyl intercepted at the U.S. border comes from Canada. We have worked relentlessly to address this scourge that affects Canadians and Americans alike.”

With tensions now at an all-time high and both leaders digging in their heels, the question remains—is this the beginning of an all-out trade war, or will diplomacy prevail before irreversible damage is done?
