Donald Trump makes ‘incredibly inappropriate’ statement about astronauts stranded in space as delays continue

Donald Trump issued an update on bringing Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore home

President Trump has made some ‘reckless’ remarks about the two NASA astronauts stuck in space as she spoke about when he will be able to bring them home.

Last June, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore embarked on what was meant to be a quick eight-day journey to space — but months later, they’re still waiting to return home.

Their extended stay wasn’t part of the plan. Upon reaching the International Space Station, critical issues with the Boeing capsule surfaced, deeming the spacecraft unsafe for their return to Earth. Now, their unexpected space-bound adventure continues, leaving the world anxiously awaiting their safe homecoming.

Last June, astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore launched into space for what was intended to be an eight-day mission. Yet nine months — and a new president — later, the duo is still stranded aboard the International Space Station, with their return repeatedly delayed.

Wilmore’s 16-year-old daughter has voiced frustration, blaming the ongoing delays on “negligence” and “a lot of politics,” adding, “It’s just been issue after issue after issue.”

During a press conference on March 6, President Donald Trump was asked about the situation. Instead of focusing on the astronauts’ safety or the technical issues, his response took a bizarre turn.

“They’ve been left up there,” Trump remarked. “I hope they like each other… maybe they’ll love each other. I don’t know.”

Adding to the awkward moment, he commented on Williams’ hair, saying, “And I see the woman with the wild hair. Good solid head of hair she’s got. There’s no kidding. There’s no games with her hair.”

Critics were quick to respond. One social media user called the remarks “incredibly inappropriate,” while another questioned, “Does anyone think this is normal?” Another user sarcastically dubbed Trump a “hair expert” and criticized his comments as “reckless” and disrespectful to the seriousness of the astronauts’ situation.

Criticism continued following Trump’s remarks, with one concerned individual stating, “These brave individuals are facing real challenges, and they deserve support, not distractions. Leadership requires stability and focus. It’s time to seriously consider invoking the 25th Amendment.”

Meanwhile, some social media users took a more lighthearted approach, joking that Williams and Wilmore may actually prefer their time in space given the situation on Earth.

“At this point, they may be better off in space,” one person quipped. Another added, “I bet they’re saying to each other, ‘You know what, maybe we should just stay up here for a bit longer.’”

Fortunately, there’s hope on the horizon. According to USA Today, Williams and Wilmore are expected to finally begin their long-awaited journey home on or around March 19.
