The podcaster has been banned for spreading Coronavirus and election ‘misinformation’
In a move that’s sparking headlines, Donald Trump has appointed a MAGA podcast host, who was previously banned from several platforms for spreading ‘misinformation,’ to a prestigious role within the FBI. The former US Secret Service agent has been named the new deputy director of the Bureau, placing him just under Kash Patel in the leadership hierarchy.
Despite the top two positions at the FBI being held by individuals without traditional Bureau experience, Trump praised Bongino as a “man of incredible love and passion for our country.” He further lauded his potential to thrive under the leadership of what he described as the “best ever” boss, Patel, sharing the news on his Truth Social platform.

The appointment of Dan Bongino to such a high-profile position has raised eyebrows, with some critics questioning the move given his controversial reputation. Once a Secret Service agent who worked on protection details for presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Bongino transitioned into a prominent conservative voice.
Now based in Florida, Bongino’s career has spanned from two years with the New York Police Department to a decade-long tenure with the Secret Service from 1999 to 2011. However, his political ambitions have been met with less success, as he lost Senate and congressional races in Maryland and Florida. Despite these setbacks, he cemented his place as a staunch right-wing commentator and loyal Trump ally.
Bongino’s podcast, The Dan Bongino Show, gained significant attention, especially when Trump appeared as a guest during the 2020 election cycle. He also hosted Canceled in the USA on Fox News from 2021 to 2023, where he interviewed individuals claiming to be “canceled” by the media, further solidifying his position as a leading conservative figure.

Bongino’s online influence is undeniable—his Facebook posts now draw more attention than those from Fox News and CNN combined, according to the BBC. However, his controversial stance on issues like the pandemic and the 2020 election has led to major platform bans. YouTube removed Bongino for promoting “misinformation,” while Google’s AdSense suspended him for repeatedly breaching policies on COVID-19 and election-related content, including claims about a rigged election in Joe Biden’s favor. His episodes now mainly air on Rumble, where he continues to lash out at liberals, even stating in 2018 that his life revolves around “owning the libs.”
Beyond his online commentary, Bongino has also engaged in public feuds with Trump’s critics, including renowned horror author Stephen King. Recently, he expressed his support for Kash Patel’s appointment as FBI chief, touting Patel as the “change agent” needed to restore the agency. Bongino envisions a future where, in four years, the FBI will be “free of woke culture and DEI,” focusing on making significant arrests of “real bad guys” and cleaning up communities.

Now, Bongino is stepping away from his podcasting career to take on a new role in the government.
President Trump praised Bongino’s track record, writing: “He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful podcasters in the country—something he’s willing and prepared to give up in order to serve. Working alongside our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations, Dan!”
Bongino joins a growing list of Fox News personalities who have made their way into the Trump administration, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Tammy Bruce, Tulsi Gabbard, Sebastian Gorka, and Transport Secretary Sean Duffy.
