The POTUS urged Russia to take action after he warned Ukraine that it was ‘gambling with World War three’
Donald Trump has threatened to take action against Russia as he urged the country to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine ‘before it is too late’.
Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to issue a stark warning following his high-stakes meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on February 28. During the tense encounter, Trump didn’t hold back, cautioning Zelenskyy that he was “gambling with World War Three.”
His remarks came just days after the three-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine—at a moment when global tensions were already at a boiling point. In a bold move, Trump soon announced a decision that sent shockwaves through the international community: the immediate suspension of all U.S. aid to Ukraine.
The Kremlin swiftly responded, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov stating that if the U.S. pause in military assistance were indeed “true,” it could push Kyiv toward serious peace negotiations. Seizing the moment, Trump took the stage before Congress to deliver a powerful declaration:
“We have received strong signals that [Russia] is ready for peace. Wouldn’t that be beautiful? It’s time to stop this madness. It’s time to halt the killing. It’s time to end this senseless war. If you want to end wars, you have to talk to both sides.”
But just three days after asserting that Russia was prepared for peace, Trump has now issued a chilling warning to Moscow—making it clear that if Putin doesn’t follow through, consequences will follow.

In his latest Truth Social post, Donald Trump once again wielded one of his favorite economic weapons—tariffs. Fresh off taking action against Mexico, Canada, and China, Trump is now turning his sights on Russia, using financial pressure as leverage to push for a peace deal with Ukraine.
Trump made his stance crystal clear, warning that Russia’s aggressive battlefield tactics would come at a steep cost. He declared:
“Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large-scale Banking Sanctions, Sanctions, and Tariffs on Russia until a Cease Fire and FINAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT ON PEACE IS REACHED.”
His message to both nations was blunt and urgent:
“To Russia and Ukraine, get to the table right now, before it is too late. Thank you!!!”
With tensions escalating, Trump is making it known—economic warfare may be his next move if diplomacy doesn’t prevail.

Ukraine has signaled its readiness to move swiftly toward peace, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlining his vision for the “first stages” of ending the war in a post on Twitter following his meeting with Donald Trump.
Zelenskyy proposed key initial steps, stating:
“The first stages could be the release of prisoners and a truce in the sky— a ban on missiles, long-range drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure— and an immediate truce at sea, if Russia will do the same.”
Reinforcing Ukraine’s commitment to peace, he emphasized:
“Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to secure a peace that lasts.”
With both leaders pushing for negotiations, the question remains—will Russia meet them at the table?
