Canadian cafe goes viral for their ‘Trump sandwich’ that includes hilarious ingredients

‘I’m a Trump guy, but I’ll give it to you, this is solid,’ one user wrote

As the politics between Canada and the US becomes ever more fierce, citizens on both sides of the border will soon be feeling the pinch.

As tensions between the U.S. and its northern and southern neighbors escalate, a viral tweet resurfaced featuring a Canadian cafe’s ‘Trump sandwich’—a hilariously cheeky creation made with baloney as the main filler. The post gained new traction amid the intensifying trade war between the nations. This feud has been steadily simmering since February 1, when President Donald Trump signed an executive order that imposed catastrophic tariffs, aiming to hold China, Mexico, and Canada accountable for their promises to curb the influx of dangerous drugs into the U.S.

Trump slapped a 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, along with a 10% tax on Chinese products. To reinforce these measures, he declared a national emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

This escalating standoff has led to further threats, including a 241% tariff on Canada’s dairy exports to the U.S. Meanwhile, Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, retaliated by targeting everyday American wallets, pushing for significant increases in electric bills as part of the ongoing financial wrangling.

The impact of the trade war between Canada and the U.S. is set to be felt most by the residents of both nations.

Amid the escalating tensions, a 2016 tweet has recently gone viral again, poking fun at Trump. The post read: “#TrumpSandwich. Funny. But also sad. Forget about debating on substance—this is the state of U.S. political discourse today.”

The tweet accompanied a photo of a Canadian cafe’s A-board, humorously advertising a “TRUMP SANDWICH” with the ingredients: “WHITE BREAD – Full of BALONEY – W/ RUSSIAN DRESSING AND A SMALL PICKLE.”

The playful message caught the attention of residents from both sides of the border. One American user responded, saying: “I absolutely love this!” Another chimed in: “I’m a Trump guy, but I’ll give it to you, this is solid.” It seems even political opponents couldn’t help but enjoy the cheeky jab.

A third person weighed in with: “Love that Trump Sandwich wit from Canada, sharp, funny, and oh-so Canadian! Standing tall against tariffs with humor and heart. Cheers to our northern neighbors for keeping it real!”

Meanwhile, tensions continue to rise as Ontario Premier Doug Ford has vowed to take drastic action against the U.S. if President Trump presses forward with his trade war. Ford warned that electricity exports to key states like New York, Minnesota, and Michigan, which rely heavily on Ontario-powered grids, could be cut off.

In a press conference on March 10, Ford declared: “We will apply maximum pressure to maximize our leverage.”

He went on to announce a 25 percent surcharge on electricity exports, which could cost 1.5 million American homes and businesses in these states up to $400,000 per day. Ford added that on average, this surcharge would increase electricity bills by $100 a month for hardworking families across the affected states. The stakes are high, and the battle is intensifying on both sides of the border.
