Swifties Rally Behind Taylor Swift After AMAs Snub “Fortnight” Music Video
Taylor Swift’s devoted fanbase, the Swifties, are famously protective—and once again, they’re making their voices heard.
Back in March, fans were outraged when private photos of Swift and her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, surfaced online without the couple’s consent. The images, taken during an intimate date night in New York City, felt like a betrayal to many, especially as the pair had been keeping a low profile. For Swifties, it was a clear violation of their idol’s right to privacy.
Fast forward to this week: emotions ran high again as the American Music Awards (AMAs) unveiled this year’s nominees. Swift, the reigning queen of the AMAs with a record-breaking 40 wins, earned six nominations—including coveted categories like Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for The Tortured Poets Department.
But fans quickly noticed one glaring omission: the music video for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone was nowhere to be found in the Best Music Video category.
Social media lit up with frustration. One fan bluntly posted on X (formerly Twitter), “No MV??” Another chimed in, “I’m with you! That masterpiece got overlooked.”
Others were more vocal in their praise—and disappointment:
“The Fortnight music video is actually so beautiful and well-made. I don’t know why it was ignored at all the big award shows.”
“Even the Grammys at least nominated Fortnight. What is this mess?”
“Not nominating Fortnight is a CRIME. #AMAs, you know that MV was a masterpiece. Did you ignore it on purpose?”
Despite the snub, Swift’s six nominations solidify her legacy. When the AMAs take place in Las Vegas on May 26, she’ll remain the most-awarded artist in the show’s history. Her closest competition, Justin Bieber, trails far behind with 18 wins—a gap Swift is likely to widen even further this year.
Award or no award, one thing is certain: Swift’s fans will always show up, speak out, and stand by her—especially when they believe she’s been wronged.
