Chris Brown is once again facing serious legal troubles overseas.

The 36-year-old R&B singer was arrested around 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, at the upscale Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England. According to The Sun, the arrest stems from an alleged violent incident that occurred over a year ago at Tape nightclub in London’s Hanover Square.

“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” police told The Sun. “He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”

The alleged victim, music producer Abe Diaw, claims Brown attacked him without provocation, smashing a bottle of Don Julio 1942 over his head before repeatedly punching and kicking him. Diaw stated, “He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well,” noting that the assault left him hospitalized.

In October 2023, Diaw filed a civil lawsuit against Brown, alleging the singer “inflicted severe and lasting injuries” during the brutal nightclub altercation. The case adds to Brown’s growing list of legal entanglements, further casting a shadow over his tumultuous career.

Chris Brown Accused of Brutal Assault in London Nightclub; Arrested in Manchester

Chris Brown’s history of violence is once again under intense scrutiny following his arrest in the UK this week.

The Grammy-winning singer, 36, was taken into custody at Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel around 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 15. Police confirmed that the arrest stems from an incident on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in London’s exclusive Hanover Square.

According to The Sun, Brown is suspected of grievous bodily harm after allegedly launching a savage, unprovoked attack on music producer Abe Diaw. The artist is accused of smashing Diaw over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 before punching and kicking him. The producer claims Brown then “ruthlessly” stomped on him and kicked him in the back of the neck, rendering him unconscious for approximately 30 seconds.

Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown in October 2023, alleging the singer inflicted “severe and lasting injuries” during the violent encounter. He also required hospitalization due to the attack.

“This wasn’t just a scuffle,” Diaw reportedly told The Sun. “He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well.”

Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing and being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.

The incident adds to Brown’s troubling pattern of violence, which has followed him throughout his career. Most infamously, in 2009, he pleaded guilty to felony assault after brutally beating then-girlfriend Rihanna, whose visibly battered face became a viral symbol of domestic abuse. That case led to a restraining order and temporarily derailed Brown’s career—though it never entirely stopped it.

With this latest arrest, Brown’s long-standing history of legal troubles continues to cast a shadow over his legacy in the music industry.

Chris Brown Arrested in UK Over Alleged Nightclub Assault Amid Long History of Violence

Chris Brown’s past is once again catching up with him.

The 36-year-old Grammy-winning artist was arrested early Thursday morning, May 15, outside Manchester’s Lowry Hotel in connection to a brutal 2023 assault at Tape nightclub in London’s upscale Mayfair district.

According to The Sun, Brown allegedly launched a vicious, unprovoked attack on music producer Abe Diaw, beating him over the head with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 before punching, kicking, and “ruthlessly” stomping on him. Diaw claims Brown also kicked him in the back of the neck, causing him to lose consciousness for about 30 seconds. He was later hospitalized for his injuries.

Police confirmed the arrest and stated the investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.

The alleged attack prompted Diaw to file a civil lawsuit in October 2023, accusing Brown of causing “severe and lasting injuries.”

This incident adds to a disturbing pattern of behavior spanning more than a decade. Brown’s violent history became public in 2009 when he pleaded guilty to felony assault after physically attacking then-girlfriend Rihanna. The graphic images of her bruised and bloodied face went viral, sparking outrage worldwide.

In 2017, Brown’s ex-girlfriend, actress and model Karrueche Tran, was granted a five-year restraining order against him. According to TMZ, Brown had demanded that Tran return money and gifts following their breakup. When she refused, he allegedly sent threatening messages, including one that read, “Bitch I will beat the s— out of you.”

Despite multiple run-ins with the law, restraining orders, and lawsuits, Brown has continued to maintain a loyal fan base and a steady career in music. But with each new allegation, questions surrounding accountability and celebrity culture grow louder.
