JD Vance Warns World Cup Tourists: ‘Don’t Overstay Your Welcome’—Ice’ Barbie Will Be Watching

Vice President JD Vance, recently appointed by President Donald Trump as vice chair of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, took center stage at a press conference on May 6, 2025, to share his excitement about the highly anticipated event. Co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the World Cup is expected to draw tourists from around 100 countries to witness the global spectacle.

Vance, while welcoming international visitors, issued a firm reminder: enjoy the games, but make sure to leave when the tournament concludes. Anyone failing to comply with U.S. immigration rules will be directed to speak with Secretary Kristi Noem, who heads the Department of Homeland Security. Noem forecasted that over two million foreign visitors would flock to the U.S. for the event, underscoring the importance of adhering to visa regulations.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also weighed in, emphasizing the need for travelers to respect their visa terms and not overstay their welcome.

This firm stance on immigration aligns with Trump’s past policies, which have included mass deportations and high-profile cases such as the deportation of Kilmar Armando Ábrego García to El Salvador. The message was clear: the 2026 World Cup is a celebration, but it’s also a reminder that U.S. immigration rules must be respected.
