Driver Who Killed 9-Year-Old Girl Blamed Her For Her Death — Then Video Revealed The Truth

Driver Jailed for Killing 9-Year-Old Girl in Tragic Halifax Crash

Qadeer Hussain, 55, has been sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for the death of nine-year-old Alice Williams, who was struck and fatally injured in a devastating crash in Halifax on July 8, 2023.

Hussain was driving 20 mph over the speed limit and ran a red light when he hit Alice, who was crossing the street hand-in-hand with her mother and younger brother. The horrific impact left Alice critically injured; she died just days later in hospital.

Initially, Hussain attempted to shift blame, claiming the young girl had darted into the road. However, dashcam footage revealed the truth—he was traveling at 49 mph when the traffic light turned red. Faced with this evidence, Hussain eventually admitted responsibility for her death through reckless driving.

In a heart-wrenching court statement, Alice’s mother said their family would “never be whole again.” Her younger brother described Hussain simply, yet powerfully, as “mean” and “bad.” In addition to the prison term, Hussain received a 10-year driving ban.

Detective Sergeant Steve Suggitt praised the crucial role of dashcam footage in securing the conviction and called the case a sobering example of the dangers of irresponsible driving.

Alice’s family remembers her as a bright, joyful child who brought love and light to everyone around her. They now hope her tragic death serves as a powerful reminder to all drivers: slow down, respect the rules, and never take a life for granted.
