Dominique Alexander, a passionate local activist and family representative for Karmelo Anthony, has had enough of the ongoing turmoil surrounding the young athlete.
After Anthony’s release from jail, he was swiftly relocated to a secret location for his safety, as threats and harassment against his family escalated. The 17-year-old was arrested on April 2 in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Frisco ISD track meet.
Since then, a flood of false information has spread across social media, further victimizing the Anthony family. In an emotional statement, Kala Hayes, Karmelo’s mother, broke her silence, revealing the toll the situation has taken on their family. “My 13-year-old daughter is too scared to sleep in her own room because she’s terrified of what might happen,” she shared.
During a press conference on April 17, tempers flared when Metcalf’s father was escorted out by police. Dominique Alexander, representing the Anthony family through the Next Generation Action Network, called the disruption “disrespectful” and slammed the father’s actions as an affront to the dignity of his son.
The heat didn’t stop there. Alexander stood firm, stating, “This press conference wasn’t about him, it wasn’t organized by him, and it sure as heck wasn’t for him. At the end of the day, this is a criminal case, people.”
He further emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity and safety of all involved. “It’s not just ethically wrong, it’s completely inappropriate for anyone to intrude without knowing all the facts. Our priority is the safety of everyone, and no one has the right to disrupt this press conference.”
In his final remarks, Alexander fiercely addressed the racially charged remarks and online attacks aimed at Karmelo Anthony. “I couldn’t care less about the negativity. It doesn’t bother me,” he stated, making it clear that the family will not be deterred by hate or misinformation.
“I don’t care about the racist people who want to attack Dominique or bring up my past,” Karmelo Anthony declared with defiance. “Frankly, I don’t care at all. If you know me, you’ll understand that your attempts to tear me down only make me stronger. The truth is, I couldn’t care less about what anyone has to say.”
As the controversy continues to swirl around the Anthony family, they are focusing on their future plans—particularly what they intend to do with the funds raised through their ongoing fundraiser. These funds are crucial in ensuring the family’s safety and supporting their legal efforts as they navigate the challenges of the criminal case. The money will be used to cover legal expenses, secure the family’s safety, and support initiatives aimed at combating the harassment and threats that have plagued them since Karmelo’s arrest. The family is committed to using the resources to protect their well-being and fight for justice in this difficult time.

Karmelo Anthony is facing a murder charge in connection with the tragic death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, who was stabbed at a track meet on April 2.
After his arrest, Anthony was released on bond, with his bond reduced from $1 million to $250,000, and placed on house arrest.
Amid the ongoing legal battle, over $514,000 has been raised through the “Help Karmelo Anthony Official Fund” on the crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo.com.
Jacob Wells, co-founder of GiveSendGo, clarified that the funds will be used to cover Anthony’s legal expenses and ensure the safety of the family during this difficult time. The support from the community is crucial in helping the family navigate both the legal challenges and the threats they’ve faced since the incident.
