Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Pelletier, a cherished member of When Calls the Heart family, tragically passed away last month at the age of 53. Best known for his role as a taxi driver in several episodes of the popular Hallmark series, Nate’s legacy extends far beyond the screen. He was a vital member of the show’s transportation department, lovingly tending to the vintage vehicles that brought the town of Hope Valley to life.
Nate passed away peacefully in his home in Langley, British Columbia, on April 11, as noted in his obituary. His loss has deeply affected those who knew him, with many sharing heartfelt tributes.
Martin Cummins, who portrays Henry Gowen on the show, reflected on their deep bond, saying, “I just returned from a ride on the bike that Gord and Nate put together for the girls, and now I’m taking shade in Mexico under the awning Nate helped me figure out in the woods near the old cabin. I’ve spent more time in the blue room, in silence and conversation with Gord and Nate, than I’ve spent in front of the camera. Life is constantly changing, and things will never be the same. The Valley will not be the same without Nathaniel Pelletier. He was a gentle soul, and it was an honor to call him my friend.”
Mike Magnusson, the production manager, also shared a heartfelt tribute: “Nate was all heart, a true unicorn who powered through every 14-hour day with a wide smile and endless cheer. He saw people, always ready with a kind word, and his spirit created a void that can never be replaced. Nate, you were one of a kind, and we loved you dearly. You will be sorely missed, my friend.”
The official When Calls the Heart Instagram account also paid tribute: “The When Calls the Heart family is mourning the loss of a beloved member, Nathaniel ‘Nate’ Pelletier. Many #Hearties had the privilege of meeting Nate at the Hearties Family Reunion, where he delighted fans with his warmth and infectious joy. We send love to all who knew and loved him. Nate will be missed greatly.”
Nate’s kindness, dedication, and infectious positivity will never be forgotten, and his presence will forever be missed in the When Calls the Heart family.
