Urfan Sharif, Father Who Killed Daughter Sara, Attacked in Prison

The heart-wrenching murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif in August 2023 sent shockwaves around the world. Her father, Urfan Sharif, shocked the public by admitting to brutally beating her to death after years of horrific abuse. A handwritten note found near her lifeless body confirmed his confession, where he claimed, “I lost it,” though he insisted it was never his intention to kill her.
Sara endured over 70 injuries, including fractures, burns, and bite marks, painting a chilling picture of her suffering. After the murder, Urfan, his wife Beinash Batool, and his brother fled to Pakistan, but were eventually extradited and charged. In December 2024, Urfan was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 40 years. Batool received a sentence of at least 33 years, while the uncle, Faisal Malik, was sentenced to 16 years. In a tearful court statement, Sara’s mother, Olga Domin, condemned the trio as “executioners” and said her daughter had become “an angel.”
Upon arrival at HMP Belmarsh, Sharif quickly became a target due to the prison’s strict code, which strongly condemns child abusers. On New Year’s Day, he was viciously attacked by two inmates using a makeshift weapon fashioned from a tuna can lid. Sharif suffered severe neck and face injuries but survived the assault.
One of the attackers is believed to be Steve Sansom, a lifer convicted for a brutal double murder. Prison insiders revealed that an attack on Sharif was inevitable, with many inmates believing he “couldn’t have gotten what he deserved more.”
