Donald Trump reveals how much money the US will make a day as global tariffs come into effect

In case you haven’t been following the dramatic global tensions sparked by the United States, the situation is escalating fast. President Donald Trump is reflecting on the economic fallout, and it’s clear things are about to get even more intense.

On April 2nd, Trump unveiled his ambitious ‘Liberation Day’ plan, shaking up international trade with bold new tariffs targeting countries around the world—yes, even long-standing allies and trade partners are caught in the crossfire. The plan includes a hefty 25 percent tariff on all foreign-made automobiles and a baseline 10 percent tariff on goods from most countries. But here’s where it gets interesting: countries that aren’t adhering to the USMCA free trade agreement (between the US, Mexico, and Canada) will face a steep 25 percent tariff, while UK imports are hit with 10 percent and EU goods are slapped with a 20 percent tariff.

While world leaders have signaled their willingness to strike new deals to avoid these tariffs, they’ve also made it clear they won’t hesitate to retaliate. The most vocal opponent? China, which seems to be diving headfirst into a new trade war with the US. The stakes are higher than ever, and the world is watching closely.

President Trump has stood resolutely behind his economic plan, insisting it will lead to the “rebirth” of American industry and ultimately benefit the American people. On Wednesday, April 9, the US government began collecting tariffs from a whopping 90 countries, with an eye-popping 104% tariff slapped on China.

During a White House event on Tuesday, April 8, Trump also shared the remarkable financial figures the US is raking in. According to the President, the US is already bringing in “almost $2 billion a day in tariffs.”

Trump further claimed that many nations are scrambling to strike a deal in order to avoid these punitive tariffs. “These countries are calling me up, kissing my a**… they are dying to make a deal…” he boldly declared. It’s clear—Trump believes his strategy is working, and the world is on edge as negotiations intensify.

In a mocking tone, Trump imitated the nations pleading for deals, adding, “Please, please, sir, make a deal. I’ll do anything!”

He continued with his characteristic confidence, saying, “I really think we are helped by the tariff situation. It’s a good situation, not bad—it’s great. It’s going to be legendary, you watch, legendary in a positive way, I have to say.”

Turning to the specifics, Trump explained, “That’s why additional tariffs on Chinese goods are going into effect at midnight tonight at 104%, until they make a deal with us. That’s what it’s going to be.”

He expressed his belief that China would eventually come to the table, stating, “I think they’ll make a deal at some point. China wants to make a deal, they really do, they just don’t know how to get it started because they are proud people.” The rhetoric is clear: Trump’s confidence in his approach is unwavering, and he’s not backing down.
