Tom Hanks leaves Trump supporters outraged with shocking SNL appearance
During the show’s 50th anniversary special, Hanks’ Saturday Night Live spoof was included.

Tom Hanks sparked a firestorm of controversy with his appearance on the 50th-anniversary special of Saturday Night Live, where his iconic ‘Doug’ character donned a MAGA hat, angering many of Donald Trump’s followers.
On Sunday, February 16, the biggest names in entertainment gathered in New York City to celebrate Saturday Night Live’s momentous milestone. The star-studded event saw A-list celebrities like Meryl Streep, Martin Short, Jack Nicholson, and Aubrey Plaza joining in the festivities, making the evening truly unforgettable as they toasted to the legendary sketch comedy show’s half-century of laughs.

Tom Hanks also took center stage during the anniversary celebration, appearing in a sketch that has stirred some controversy, particularly among President Trump’s supporters.
In the skit, Hanks reprised his role as Doug on the parody game show Black Jeopardy, where he wore a red “Make America Great Again” cap. The moment was charged with tension as Kenan Thompson, the host of the spoof, attempted to shake Doug’s hand. Initially, Doug refused, adding to the humor of the moment.
But in true Doug fashion, he eventually made the gesture, though not before quipping, “Don’t like that, whoa, whoa, whoa. It’s possible I’ll call it White Jeopardy and launch a show just for you to appear on.” The line added a playful edge to the sketch while also adding fuel to the fire of the ensuing controversy.

Following the broadcast of the sketch, many Trump supporters took to Twitter to express their discontent, with the majority clearly unimpressed by the segment.
One tweet criticized Tom Hanks, claiming he appeared on Saturday Night Live dressed in a sloppy manner and mocked millions of Trump supporters, portraying them as ignorant, racist, and rednecks. The tweet added, “Libs, keep up the good work. There’s no way you’ll win another election.”
Link Lauren, a former assistant to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also weighed in, remarking on Hanks’s brief appearance wearing the MAGA hat, during which he acted as though he refused to shake hands with a Black man. Lauren then questioned the show’s low ratings, pointing out, “The popular vote went to Donald Trump.”

One tweet expressed disgust at the idea that the Democratic Party of America is somehow racist, calling it a repulsive cliche. The individual also criticized Saturday Night Live, labeling the show as unentertaining and geared toward elitist liberal audiences.
Another comment highlighted the current state of the Republican Party as a vast coalition of former Democrats, ending with a pointed farewell: “Adieu, Saturday Night Live!“
A third Trump supporter voiced frustration over Hanks’s portrayal of a racist Trump supporter who refuses to shake hands with a Black man, writing, “No one in the audience laughs as Tom Hanks appears on Saturday Night Live as a racist Trump supporter.” Another added, “This makes me mad,” further emphasizing their discontent with the sketch.

“Tonight on Saturday Night Live, Tom Hanks appeared in a parody as a MAGA bigot. In the skit, Hanks visibly recoils as a Black game show host extends his hand for a handshake, amplifying the portrayal of a racist character.”
