Elon Musk has been pretty busy the last few months and that is part of the problem
A Tesla investor called for Elon Musk to remove himself as CEO for the sake of the company in a shocking revelation.
Elon Musk’s Dual Roles Stir Up Controversy: Is Tesla in Crisis?
Elon Musk’s influence seems to be everywhere—especially in the world of American politics. Recently, the billionaire entrepreneur has become a vocal supporter of Donald Trump’s administration, using his platform on Twitter (now X) to make waves. However, his political involvement may be backfiring on Tesla.
Ross Gerber, one of Tesla’s earliest investors, has called for Musk to step down as CEO, citing growing concerns over his divisive public persona and political distractions. Gerber argues that Musk’s focus on projects like the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump’s leadership is taking attention away from Tesla’s core business—and the results are showing.
Since December, Tesla’s market value has plummeted by over $800 billion, a decline compounded by boycotts and protests against the brand. Gerber didn’t mince words, describing the situation as a crisis.
In an interview with Sky News, Gerber stated:
“The company’s reputation has just been destroyed by Elon Musk. Sales are plummeting… it’s a crisis. You literally can’t sell the best product on the market because the CEO is so divisive.”
Gerber went on to suggest a solution: Musk either needs to step back from his other ventures and refocus on Tesla, or appoint a suitable CEO to run the company while he continues his political endeavors.
“The business has been neglected for too long,” Gerber concluded. “There are too many important things Tesla is doing. It’s time for somebody to run Tesla.”

Tesla Crisis Deepens: Ross Gerber Calls for New CEO, but Musk Remains Silent
In a bold move, Ross Gerber, one of Tesla’s early investors, has called for a new CEO to take the helm of the company, criticizing Elon Musk’s divided attention between Tesla and his political ambitions. Gerber didn’t hold back when expressing his concerns, stating:
“I think Tesla needs a new CEO, and I decided today I was going to start saying it, and so this is the first show that I’m saying it on. It’s time for somebody to run Tesla.”
Gerber emphasized the neglect Tesla has faced under Musk’s leadership, pointing out the urgent need for focus on the company’s future. According to him, Musk’s current distractions, including his involvement in government projects, have caused significant harm to Tesla’s progress.
“The business has been neglected for too long. There are too many important things Tesla is doing, so either Elon should come back to Tesla and be the CEO of Tesla and give up his other jobs or he should focus on the government and keep doing what he is doing but find a suitable CEO of Tesla.”
Gerber’s comments were harsh, but they echo mounting concerns about Tesla’s struggling market performance and the impact of Musk’s polarizing presence.
Despite the blunt criticism, Musk has yet to make any public statement responding to Gerber’s remarks, leaving many to wonder if the Tesla CEO will continue to juggle his multiple roles or step back to focus on reviving the company.
