A Russian government official has labeled two world leaders ‘dumb’ and suggested that they are tinkering on the edge of World War III.

As President Donald Trump pushes for a high-stakes peace deal between Ukraine and Russia—three years after Russia’s unjust invasion—Russian Security Council Deputy Chair Dmitry Medvedev has ignited tensions with a fiery statement targeting two key U.S. allies.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev took to Twitter to unleash a scathing attack on French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer over their proposal to deploy NATO troops in Ukraine. The two leaders have called for a “coalition of the willing,” which could send 10,000 troops from both the EU and NATO into the war-torn region, along with specialized naval vessels known as “minehunters.”

These minehunters, crucial for maritime security, patrol coastal waters, detect naval mines, and eliminate potential threats at sea.

NATO—the North Atlantic Treaty Organization—was established in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations as a united front against the Soviet Union, reinforcing collective defense in times of conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a stark warning, threatening to unleash his nuclear arsenal if NATO grants Ukraine membership—an escalation many fear could ignite World War III.

Meanwhile, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev took to Twitter with a blistering tirade against French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Responding to their call for a “coalition of the willing” to deploy NATO troops in Ukraine, Medvedev raged:

“Macron and Starmer are playing dumb. Time and again they are told that peacekeepers must be from non-NATO states. No, we will send tens of thousands—just lay it out—you want to give military aid to the neo-Nazis in Kiev. That means war with NATO. Consult with Trump, scumbags.”

His fiery remarks come as U.S. and Ukrainian officials recently met in Saudi Arabia for marathon eight-hour negotiations aimed at brokering a ceasefire with Russia.

Following their high-stakes negotiations, the U.S. and Ukraine released a joint statement outlining their goal of securing a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. President Donald Trump reinforced the urgency, warning that Russia would face “devastating” consequences if it refused to comply.

Despite mounting pressure, Russian President Vladimir Putin has yet to agree to the ceasefire, drawing sharp criticism from UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who accused him of “dragging his feet” on the deal.

“Sooner or later, he is going to have to come to the table and engage in serious discussions,” Starmer told reporters in the UK. “This is the moment: let the guns fall silent, let the barbaric attacks on Ukraine once and for all stop, and agree to a ceasefire now.”
