The muff made contact with his mouth and slid across his face, prompting the President to squint, lean back, and close his eyes to avoid further contact. Boom mics are typically used by reporters to maintain a respectful distance during interviews in crowded settings, but someone seemed to misjudge the distance, resulting in the microphone brushing against President Trump’s face. As the muff grazed his face, he shot a sharp glare at the reporter, who appeared to be a woman, though her identity remains unclear. With a touch of humor, the 78-year-old President remarked, “She just made television tonight. She just became a big story tonight.”
