Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy sat down with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance
Footage from the White House has revealed US President Donald Trump raising his voice at Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Earlier today (February 28), US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sat down at the White House Oval Office in Washington, DC, alongside Vice President JD Vance. The meeting quickly became tense when Vance accused Zelenskyy of showing disrespect toward both the US and President Trump. When Vance told Zelenskyy that he “should be thanking the president,” the Ukrainian leader fired back, “Have you ever been to Ukraine? Seen what problems we have? Come once.”
Zelenskyy went on to explain that “during the war, everyone has problems,” emphasizing that just because Americans may not feel the impact now, it doesn’t mean they won’t in the future.
Trump, visibly agitated, interrupted, insisting he was “trying to solve a problem” and that Zelenskyy was in “no position” to dictate how they should feel. With his voice rising, Trump added, “You’re in no position to tell us what we’re going to feel. We’re going to feel very good, very strong. Right now, you’re not in a very good position—you’ve allowed yourself to be in a very bad position.” He warned Zelenskyy, “You don’t have the cards right now. But with us, you start having cards… You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You’re gambling with World War III! And what you’re doing is very disrespectful to this country.”
Social media erupted with reactions to the heated exchange. One user commented, “Jesus F**king Christ! Watching Trump yell and demean the Ukrainian President is completely disrespectful. What a disgrace.” Another simply wrote, “This is wild,” while a third called the scene “embarrassing.”
Trump’s fiery comments echo his earlier warnings about the potential for World War III. At the Future Investment Initiative Institute Priority Summit in Miami on February 19, Trump stated, as quoted by NDTV World, “Around the world, I’m moving quickly to end wars, settle conflicts, and restore peace. I want peace, and I don’t want to see […] everybody being killed.” He continued, referencing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East, “There’s no profit for anyone in having World War III, and you’re not so far away from it. I’ll tell you right now, you’re not so far away.”
